Marking the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola,  Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE) inaugurated a state-of-the-art Engine Room Simulator at its Maritime training centre in Andheri significantly expanding its maritime training capabilities.

Drawing inspiration from St. Francis Xavier, who undertook extensive sea voyages across Asia in service of his mission, the institution continues to advance maritime education. Developed in partnership with Stripes Academy, the new facility complements St. Xavier’s long-standing training programs, including its renowned Radio Officers’ Course and K-Sim Dynamic Positioning (DP) Training.

The facility is currently the only integrated Engine Room Simulator of its kind in India. Built across two levels to mimic an actual vessel, the simulator features an Engine Control Room on the upper deck, while the lower level houses auxiliary machinery, steering gear, and a pipeline mimic system. The facility was formally inaugurated by Shri D. Mugilrajan Devarajan, Deputy Director General of Shipping, Government of India, and blessed by Rev. Fr. Anil Pereira, SJ, Provincial of the Bombay Jesuits. In keeping with the modern theme, the traditional lamp lighting and plaque unveiling were conducted electronically
