Shanti Seva Mandal, Manor is a Public charitable trust working with the tribals of Palghar, Vikramgad and Jawahar talukas of Palghar district for the last 4 decades. Our organization is involved in various development works for the tribals. SSM has given primary importance to promoting education, health and agriculture programmes.   

Pastoral Work - 5 Mass Centers.

   At present we are catering to around 400 + Local tribal Catholics at five Mass Centers    situated at Manor, kosbad, Titwali, Zadpoli (a Home for the Aged run by sisters) and Khand.  The last Centre being over a distance of about 70 kilometers from Manor.

The pastoral work consists of:

a)  Regular Sunday and Feast day Masses, occasional week day Masses. Occasional Retreats etc. to parishioners.

      b)  Regular Parish Home visits – we try to cover all homes and get acquainted with family members, problems, needs etc and take note of pertinent details.

   c)    This year the Mission Deanery is working out the Mission Perspective Plan   with the involvement and participation of all our Catholics in.  Consultation with focus groups will be worked out. The purpose is to enable us to see clearly in which direction the Mission and the parishioners should be moving and what we should be trying to attain in all spheres of life.

   d) The Manor Retreat House: Our priests will also be involved in occasional retreats, talks, recollections and other trainings.

   II. Educational Work:

   a) Hostel for 47 tribal  school going  students belonging to villages far away from schools. Std. 3 to Std. X. Here the children have a regular time table of are given regular tuitions IN DIFFERENT SUBJECTS AND COMPUTER EDUCATION.                     

   b) 40 supplementary UEP Classes in 40 villages. This is two hour tuition for all the poor children of the village to ensure that they do not lag behind in studies. At present a total of 1200 students are benefitting from these classes

III. Social Work in the villages: 

We are planning to get the teachers of supplementary classes to start one hour’s social work in their villages. They will be given special needed training in the rights of people and the various schemes of the Government, Panchayat Raj etc. they will be given an honorarium  for their services.

A) Health Work: We have health clinic in our campus and doctors are coming from Vasai. We give help to our Tribal people who are very poor colabrating with St. Michael’s Church manickpur.     

B) Celebration of Children’s Day on a big scale. Last year more than 800 children attended and spent the full day here. Through These health workers also strengthen our outreach to the villages like these the children of the area and the villages around are getting closer to us. 

C) Agriculture:  With the help of Fr. Joel and Fr. Godfrey of MPSM we are trying to introduce our local farmers to effective agricultural practices.

We distributed fruit trees to our tribal people so that they will get some income and fruits for the family. This year distributed to 182 families.
