JANHIT VIKAS TRUST (JVT) is a mission station of the Bombay Jesuit province located at TARA village in the Raigad District of Mahrashtra State. The Jesuits here work mainly with the KATKARI TRIBALS. The following are some of their main works in the area:

1. NON-FORMAL EDUCATION: Jesuits here cater to the needs of children between the age group of 5 – 10 years who are registered in government schools, but stand in need of help in their studies. Thus 20 supplementary classes in 20 different villages are run, benefiting over 500 children.

2. SOCIAL WORK: The Jesuits also cater to the general welfare of the primitive tribe called the Katkari. Here they help them in gaining access to various schemes of the government especially meant for the primitive tribes of Maharashtra.

3. HERBAL MEDICINE: Jesuits here cater to the Health of the Katkari people, in and through their creation of awareness of Herbal medicine as Preventive Health Care for the whole Katkari community at large. 

Recent events:

Lately, JVT Tara organised a drawing and elocution competition at Asha Kiran school for students of std 9 and std 10. This was in Pen taluka and at Amardeep boarding in Nasik.

On 7th Oct 2022, Fr Jacob D’Britto SJ guided a group of keen local learners in a session on the making of Herbal Medicine.

In Sept 2022, a meeting for 29 women from two villages was conducted at JVT Tara. The women were conscientized about various government schemes that are available to them. They went on to fill out forms that would help avail of various government welfare schemes.
