Fr. Anil Pereira SJ – New Provincial of the Bombay Jesuits
The Jesuit General, Fr. Arturo Sosa, has appointed Fr. Anil Pereira as the new Provincial of the Bombay Province of the Society of Jesus. Fr. Anil brings with him youthfulness and dynamism. Fr. Anil hails from St. Gonsalo Garcia Church, Gass, Vasai.
After completing his B.Com he joined the Society of Jesus in 1998. His Jesuit formation included his Novitiate at Sadhanalaya, Nasik, Juniorate at BTC, Vithalwadi, MA Philosophy at Satyanilyam, Chennai, Regency at Manor mission and theology at Vidyajyoti, Delhi.
After his ordination he did his Pastoral year in 2008-09 St Peter's Bandra. After that he was Vocation Promoter for the next two years, and pre-novitiate director for a year, before he went for his Tertianship to Raia, Goa.
He did his Master's in Ignatian Spirituality from Comillas University, Madrid. He was Socius to the Novice Master in 2016-2017 and Novice master of the West Zone Novitiate and Superior of XTC from 2017. He has been Province consultor from June 2021.
He is fluent in English, Marathi, Spanish Hindi. He is much sought after for spiritual direction, retreats and counselling among religious and laity.
